Mouse Maze – Cheese & Ghosts

Game Overview

You are a brave little mouse trapped in an endless series of mazes. Your goal is to gather cheese, grow stronger, and escape each maze through a gate hidden in the walls. As you progress, more ghosts appear, some become faster and more unpredictable, and terrifying scary ghost mice join the hunt.

Characters

🧀 The Player Mouse

Moves one tile at a time through the maze.
Collects cheese to grow slightly bigger and unlock new gates.
Has a tail that grows longer as more cheese is collected.
The tail is dangerous: ghosts that touch your tail will steal your cheese.

👻 Normal Ghost Mice

Red ghost-like shapes drifting through the maze.
They wander around semi-randomly.
If a normal ghost touches your mouse or your tail, you lose 1 cheese (if you have any).
They also eat any cheese they walk over.

💀 Scary Ghost Mice

Purple ghost-like shapes – more dangerous than normal ghosts.
Appear only on levels 5, 10, 15, ....
Level 5 → 1 scary ghost, Level 10 → 2 scary ghosts, etc.
They can randomly jump over walls, making them harder to predict.
They also steal your cheese when they hit you or your tail.

Controls & Rules

🎮 Controls

Arrow Keys: Move your mouse up / down / left / right. Holding a key keeps you moving in that direction.
Spacebar: Jump over a wall in the last direction you moved (once you have enough cheese for that level).

📜 Rules & Mechanics

Cheese appears randomly in the maze. Walk over it to collect.
Cheese is cumulative: you keep it from one level to the next.
Each level has a required amount of cheese to unlock the gate.
The gate is hidden in a random wall tile. It only appears (turns blue) once you have enough cheese for that level.
When you walk onto the gate with enough cheese, you move to the next level.
Your mouse's tail grows slowly as your total cheese increases. Long tail = powerful but risky.
If any ghost touches your head or any part of your tail, you lose 1 cheese. This can shorten your tail.
With enough cheese for the current level, your mouse glows green and can jump over walls using Spacebar.

The deeper you go, the more chaotic the maze becomes. Hoard cheese carefully, manage your giant ego-tail, and see how far your mouse can survive.
